Janice A. RivenJanis A. Riven,

Ms. Riven, based in Montreal, has an established consulting practice on governance and compliance matters with clients encompassing publicly listed and closely held companies, as well as various types of not-for-profits, and is currently a Lecturer at the John Molson School of Business, Concordia University, and the Management Institute of Canada where she teaches Corporate Governance. She is a well known speaker both in Canada and abroad at conferences on corporate governance, and has acted as a facilitator for boards and board committees of a number of different organizations seeking to improve their governance effectiveness.

Ms. Riven joined RBC Insurance in 1996 as corporate secretary and counsel, and in 1998, was appointed Vice President, Compliance and Secretary. In this position, Ms. Riven was responsible for establishing corporate regulatory and market conduct compliance programs for the creditor, life and health, travel, property and casualty and reinsurance businesses. She also acted as corporate secretary and developed policies and procedures for the organization's many Canadian, US and international operating subsidiaries.

Ms. Riven is Immediate Past President of Chartered Secretaries Canada, the Canadian division of the Institute of Chartered Secretaries and Administrators (ICSA), an international teaching organization focussed on governance. She currently serves as President of the Quebec Branch. Ms. Riven is a member of the Quebec Bar and a Fellow of the ICSA. Her other board experience includes the Financial Women's Association of Quebec, Stratford Arts Foundation, the Advisory Council of the University Scholarship Fund, ICSA International, Treasury Management Association of Canada and Worldwide Magnesium Corporation.


Dr. Alain Hoodashtian

Ph.D., Professor in Political Science, Philosophy and Global Economy

Dr. Hoodashian received his Ph.D. from the University of Paris (France) and has taught at universities in France, Central Asia and Africa in the areas of Political Science, Philosophy, Management and Intercultural Studies since 1990. Having served as Director of a management school in Canada and as a Research Director, he is a published author of books and articles in both English and French in the humanities. He is an Associate Professor.

Professor Nadira T. Pardo, B.S., M.S., Ph.D. has been the Vice President Marketing of Planet Electronics, the largest retail appliance chain in the entire CIS (Commonwealth of Independent States of former Soviet republics). She continues to consult on forecasting and business strategy on a part-time basis for this and other MNCs throughout Europe and Asia. She has taught International Business as a Full Professor of International Economics, Business and Marketing at the Eurasia National University, the Kazakhstan National University, and the Kazakhstan Institute of Strategic Research in Almaty, Kazakhstan and was the Founder and Director General of Decision Research Strategists, a business consulting firm specializing in brand image and brand management, as well as a wide variety of business strategic planning. She continues to consult in the areas of International Management, Marketing, Economics, and Human Resource Management in many countries for multinational corporations.

With 25+ years of marketing experience, and 30+ years of management experience, Dr. Pardo has conducted market research for Fortune 500 companies in the United States. She has produced over 50 consulting reports over a 10 year period as a senior consultant and managing director of several of her own companies. In addition, she has supervised large teams of researchers on academic grants for industry and government organizations. Her grant an industrial research involves consumer profiling and AI systems for use by marketing managers.

She has co-authored a best-selling textbook on Consumer Behaviour in the Australian and New Zealand markets, as well as one in China. With over 150 publications since 1990, she has published in many international refereed journals, such as the Asian Journal of Marketing, Journal of Professional Services Marketing, Euro Asia Journal of Management, International Journal of Organizational Analysis, Sasin Journal of Management , Journal of Non-profit and Volunteer Marketing, Psychology and Marketing, International Review of Business Research Papers, Current Psychology, Australasian Agribusiness Review, and the Journal of Hospital Marketing. She has presented papers at prestigious international conferences, such as the Association for Consumer Research with their refereed publication Advances in Consumer Research, and the Academy of Marketing Science, and chaired the International Conference for the Association for Consumer Research as well as the Pan Pacific Business Association Conference.

She has served in roles of Head of School, Dean of a Faculty of Business, and Dean of a campus in a large multi-campus university, and Dean of a Graduate School. She has held Visiting Professorships at University of Texas, Singapore Management University (affiliated with Wharton School of Business), and Queens School of Business at Queens University in Canada where she taught in the top MBA program in the country, and number 3 in the world. After many years of advising governments and businesses, she was appointed Chair of the Business Advisory Council and Academic Dean at the first Western style educational institution under the office of the President of Kazakhstan, resulting in an invitation to develop and supervise the first doctoral programs in business with the Eurasia National University in Astana.

Dr. Pardo has supervised over 180 successful honors, masters and doctoral students at universities throughout the world, and won an award for excellence in supervision from NCU in the USA. She has served on many Faculty and University committees and boards, including the Vice Chancellor's Consultative Committee at University of Southern Queensland in Australia and the Executive Board of KIMEP, and Chaired the Academic Boards of two Universities. She is currently a Full Professor of Psychology at CSU in the USA, and a part time Professor of Management and Marketing at the DIU in USA. She consults for Leo Burnett ad agency in Kazakhstan, Tribal DDB ad agency in Jeddah, KSA, Dubai, UAE, and the Hill Knowlton PR firm in Jeddah, KSA. She has also assisted several universities attain international accreditation, including HRH Princess Luluwa with the Queen Effat College to University.



Dr. André Molajani

Dr. Molajani earned his Ph.D from the University of Paris in Sociology. He has been teaching Sociology, Methodology, E-Business and Intercultural Studies since 1997 at that university and other institutions of higher education in Paris. He has published scientific journals as well as 5 books in Paris. He is an expert in the areas of Communications and Human Resources. Professor Molajaniwas one of the first instructors to join MIC. He has taughtIntercultural Management, Research Methodology, and E-Business at ourinstitution.

Professor Shaun Sharifi has been teaching Finance and Project Management for many years at Concordia University and other institutions of higher education in Montreal. Professor Sharifi was one of the first instructors to join MIC. He has taught Finance, Corporate Finance, Operations Management and Project Management at our institution. He is an expert in the area of Project Management and one of the main auditors of ISO Canada.

Morisaa Pawl

Prof. Morissa Pawl,

A professional in the travel industry for over 20 years, Professor Pawl began her business career with American Airlines, which led to positions with travel companies in London, England and the Los Angeles area. After obtaining her MBA in International Business she formed Pawl Consulting and has since provided services in travel, technology, and publishing; including articles, interviews, reviews, and expertise writing. She has consulted with some of the best known multi- national companies such as Navigant International, Jeffries & Co., Imation, Boeing, and Carlson Wagonlit to name a few. In addition, she is a published writer and photographer. Some of her work can be seen in both print and online magazines as well as her own website.

Not being satisfied with only an MBA she went on to achieve the status of ABD in Business Leadership from the University of South Africa and is currently completing a PhD in International Business at NorthCentral University.

In the field of education she has been an adjunct professor of International Business, Business Ethics, and International Economics since 2005 at several universities in both the United States and Canada.


Dr. Almaz Tolymbek

Dr. Almaz Tolymbek features a combination of teaching, research, and practical experience in Canada, US, and Kazakhstan. His competitive strength is in using Q methodology for management and leadership research. His Ph.D. degree with concentration in management and policy was earned at Kent State University (KSU), Ohio, USA. He demonstrates strong teaching aptitude including online instruction and instructional web design. Among his other assets are computer proficiency, program evaluation, and applied policy analysis. Finally, it is multi-lingual competence, which comprises English, French, Russian, Spanish, Kazakh, and Turkish. Previously, Dr. Tolymbek obtained MPA degree at Southern Illinois University and MBA degree at Kazakh Institute of Management, Economics, and Prognostics. In practical terms, he worked as a research specialist with KSU (USA); management consultant with International City Management Association (USA); program associate and representative in Kazakhstan with Eurasia Foundation (EF); and commercial officer with Canadian Embassy in Kazakhstan.His teaching experience and interests include Strategic Management, Leadership, Research Methods, Business Strategy, Management, International Business, Marketing, Business Negotiations, Policy Analysis, Public Management, and HRM.


DIU Faculty: Regulation

All faculty members teach at a degree level appropriate to their qualifications, and have graduated from accredited universities from around the world.

Faculty members develop their own syllabus for each course, select the textbooks and other materials to be used, and this is reviewed by at least one administrator who is a senior faculty member, to ensure overall quality. All faculty members also participate in the process of academic planning.

The mission, purpose, and goals of the Institution are a major part of each faculty member's teaching, as this relates to how they teach, how they grade, and how they interact with students. In the annual academic meetings, each faculty member participates in accomplishing the DIU mission, purpose and goals.

Students are awarded a degree upon completion of all courses in that degree program. The Registrar at each campus coordinates this with the DIU administration to ensure both organizations are recognized on the award.

Certified copies of transcripts as well as full curriculum vitae are obtained prior to subcontracting any faculty members, and the administrator in charge also contacts the degree-granting institution to verify the person's qualifications and degrees. This is always done with authorization from the candidate.

The number of hours needed for direct interaction between students and faculty per term vary according to the type of programs and mode of delivery, but it is expected that a minimum of three hours interaction is provided regardless of online or face-to-face mode.

The number of hours faculty are required to spend on student evaluation vary widely depending on the type and length of assignment, as well as the ability/speed of the faculty member to read each assignment. It is expected that at least 15 minutes per weekly assignment per student will be spent, with a maximum of 45 minutes per student weekly assignment.
